Dave Matthews Band
Nissan Pavilion at Stone Ridge

i am going to try to remember this the best i can. we had 4th row on fonzie's side.
Dream Girl-elisa had a dream that this was going to be the openner the night before! and as they were warming up, i heard it, and i called it. it was a perfect first song to start off my tour. it's easily becoming a favorite of mine live off the new album. i love the african sounding harmony among dave, butch, and carter...i had no idea that it was them on the album! i thought it was some african choir or something. god that was so hot to realize it was them.
One Sweet World -who doesn't love this one??? i love roi on this. he's such a badass.
Don’t Drink the Water -i love the passion in dave's voice in this. i always have loved this one live...i love how it sounds like it's kinda chaotic and dissonate, but at the same time so beautiful.
Hunger For The Great Light -the boys REALLY love this live. and they know that it drives the girls nuts. i looked at fonzie and shook my head at him and he smiled. the crowd loves this as well.
Say Goodbye -well, we had heard they sound checked this today, but i dont' think any one of us actually believed it would be played for us. carter started on the drums, e and i looked at each other and were like, NO WAY. holyshitmotherofgod. how sweet is was. dave stumbled a little on the words (shit, he could stumble on me all he wanted), but no matter. the crowd went apeshit. i think e called angela and i called steph.
Too Much -i love this live. i love the funk sound fonzie provides on the bass. so much energy energy energy!!!!!!!
Out Of My Hands -this one hit me like a ton of bricks. it was so quiet when it started, and alot of annoying people started talking, but i held my breath, moved slightly, and held my chest as if my heart hurt. it FELT as if my heart hurt. dave looked so sad and dispaired singing it. he can really throw himself into a character, not that i believe he was faking it, but i believe he was able to take himself back to when he wrote the words. i wanted to go up to him, hug him, hold him, rock him, tell him it would be ok. i loved how the bass and drums slowly emerged while dave singing and butch playing were the main instruments. the feeling was so intense, so engraved in my memory, i will never forget hearing that for the first time.
Grey Street-i always love me some grey street. a 12 string is always a treat!
Steady As We Go -this is such a beautiful song, so pure, so true to love. i called jodi b/c i remember her mentioning this song as having special meaning to her. it has also brought special meaning for billy and i; "when you don't say a word and you know exactly what i mean."
Hello Again -a crowd fave easily!!!
You Might Die Trying -this song is growing on me. great live!!
Where Are You Going -thank god for a breather!! poor elisa was hacking up a lung at this point. dave was trying to kill her.
Warehouse -woo! wooo! fonzie's tricepts--woo!! i do love me some warehouse. i love how crazy the band gets about this one!
Stolen Away On 55th & 3rd -dave sits down, i don't know why since he bounces his legs everywhere (not that it bothered me!). i will forever think of chelsea when i hear this song. it kinda makes me melancollie, i don't know why...like reminiscent of a lost love..ok that's rather obvious why i feel that way! what could have been kinda thing. i think e told me that dave's legs are like that when he's at a bar on a stool, practically knocking them over. lucky bar stools.
Stand Up *-holyfcjuuckendshit. Robert fucken randolf. e and i went nuts when they moved the steel guitar out on stage. totally unexpected!!!! he is a crazy muthafucka! the boys love love love him, and it shows with their admiration for his playing. dave was all over him. i LOVE RR! the boys like playing this one too, and the crowd really got into it.
Louisiana Bayou *-do i really need to tell you how great this was????????? crowd fave easily. have i said that enough?
Encore:
American Baby -good live!
All Along The Watchtower *-it sucked. hahaha, totally kidding!!!!!! as if! nuts nuts nuts, chaos, strings, horns, guitar, RR dancing, licking, playing with his foot, screaming, drums, drums, "fire! fire! fire!" oh wow. very orgasmic. great first show for me.
Special Guests:
* Robert Randolph
i drove back to charlottesville that night. we had gone to millers, to another bar (i can't remember the name) where a great blues band was jamming. we saw the pink warehouse, and some other little things that are meaningful to me. next show, charlotte.
